Introduction to our children’s privacy notice

What is ‘personal data’?

In short, it is any personal information that could identify you. It might be your name, photo, address, email address, phone number or the name of your school.

Why does Dementia UK need my personal data?

The main reason we use your personal data is so we know who you are, and can work out how we can best support you. If we don’t have your personal data it could mean you miss out on the things we can do for you. We only keep your personal data for as long as we need it.

Do I have a say in what happens to my personal data?

Absolutely! Just because we have your personal data, it doesn’t mean we can do what we want with it. Sometimes we have to ask you if we can use it, and if you say ‘no’ then we can’t. You can also ask us at any time to tell you what personal data we have about you.

Dementia UK has a Data Protection Officer whose job is to protect your information.
If you have any questions or worries about what we do with your data, you can email our Data Protection Officer: dataprotectionofficer@dementiauk.org

To find out more about how we use your personal information when you or someone else gives it to us, please see our privacy notice for children and young people at Children’s privacy notice – Dementia UK
