Supporting your staff affected by dementia
Dementia UK can work collaboratively with workplaces, who are well-placed to provide an anchor of support to those affected by dementia.
Too often, families struggle to know where to turn and are left feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and alone.
Around 700,000 people in England and Wales are unpaid carers for a loved one with dementia. They face many challenges, including balancing their caring responsibilities with family life, employment and their need to look after their own physical and mental health. Unsurprisingly, 40% of family carers experience significant depression or anxiety. All of this can have a considerable impact on the person at work.
We want to ensure that employers have access to specialist support for those staff and customers who are living with, and affected by, the everyday realities of dementia.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who are there for the whole family. As experts in dementia, they support families with the many complex challenges of the condition, providing free, specialist advice, support and understanding, whenever it’s needed.
Every day, Admiral Nurses help people affected by dementia have the best life possible for as long as possible. They are there when people need them most, providing health advice, offering compassionate emotional and psychological support and helping families plan for the future.
Our nurses can support your employees and customers to understand more about dementia and offer them a lifeline when they feel exhausted, overwhelmed and alone.
