London Winter Walk
A great event to walk off the Christmas celebrations, and to kick start your New Year fitness regime! Join our London Winter Walk.
Take in some of England’s finest scenery as you walk, jog or run! The event starts in Eastbourne then progresses up Beachy Head, over the magnificent Seven Sisters, and along the famous South Downs Way National Trail with stunning views over the sea. Take a breather at the Brighton mid-point, then encounter Devil’s Dyke: rest stops and several ups and downs all lie ahead before historic Arundel comes into view after an amazing 100km journey.
Your entry includes free food and drink at regular rest stops, plus support including medics, marshals and massage. As you cross the finish line, you’ll receive a glass of fizz, finisher’s t-shirt, and a medal to commemorate your achievement, before heading to a BBQ and a well earned rest.
As Dementia UK is an official partner of this event, you will receive a 50% discount on the ‘full sponsorship’ registration fee when signing up to support families affected by dementia.
There are also 75km, 50km Half Challenge, 25km Quarter Challenge and 10 mile options too – so make it your challenge, your way!
Head to the Dementia UK Ultra Challenge page to find out full details of prices and to sign up.
Full sponsorship: you pay a small registration fee and we’ll cover the remaining cost of your event place as long as you hit your fundraising goal! As we are an official charity partner, you will receive a 50% discount on the standard registration fee. Prices after the charity partner discount are:

Mixed funding: pay half the cost of your event place yourself, fundraise a bit less and we’ll cover the balance of your registration fee.

Fundraising ideas
Organising another fundraising activity alongside your main challenge will help you smash your goal. Here are some ideas:
Your fundraising welcome pack
Once you’ve signed up for your challenge, we’ll send you a fundraising welcome pack that’s full of advice on how to meet – and beat – your target.
Enthuse
Setting up an Enthuse page is a great way to fundraise online. Share your link with family, friends , and colleagues, and watch the donations roll in.
You can use Enthuse to explain why you’re taking on your challenge for Dementia UK, keep track of how much you’ve raised, and even share your training progress using Strava so your supporters can see how well you’re doing. The more you update and share your page, the more donations you’ll receive.
Gift Aid
If your supporters are UK taxpayers and their donation is voluntary (not proceeds of a sale), we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated – at no extra cost to them. Make sure they fill in the Gift Aid form in your fundraising pack or tick the correct boxes if they’re donating online.
The Ultra Challenge website has full details on of the event. For any specific questions about the event, please get in touch with the Ultra Challenge Team at info@actionchallenge.com
The easiest way to send cash donations to Dementia UK is by donating to your online fundraising page. Alternatively, you can:
• donate via our website
• send in a cheque made payable to Dementia UK. Enclose a note including your full name, the email address that you used to register for your tote bag, and an explanation that you raised the money for the November Knitting Challenge. Post it to us at:
Dementia UK, 7th Floor, One Aldgate, London, EC3N 1RE
• make a bank transfer: please email virtualevents@dementiauk.org for our bank details
• make a payment by phone by calling 0300 365 5500
Every penny you raise will make a huge difference to families facing dementia. Each donation, no matter how big or small, will help you reach your target. Did you know that someone simply donating £4 to your fundraiser could pay for the telephone costs of one family calling our free Helpline for immediate support.
to run a full day of face-to-face appointments for families affected by young onset dementia (where symptoms develop under the age of 65).
to answer calls on our Helpline on a Sunday, when other dementia services are closed.
for a whole week to support a community where people are struggling to access local dementia services.
Niki, who completed the South Coast Challenge 2024If I’m honest it was the hardest challenge I’ve ever done - mentally and physically. I think I definitely surprised myself but the support from friends and family was amazing.
