How to fundraise online

Our tips to help you get the most out of your online fundraising page

The easiest way to start fundraising is to set up an online JustGiving page. Use the tips below to maximise your online fundraising:

    Our 10 tips

    1. You can personalise your page to suit your fundraiser, keep track of your target, and easily share it with friends and family.
    2. Add your personal story – letting your supporters know what your fundraiser means to you will inspire them to donate and could help you raise an additional 65%.
    3. Make the first donation yourself – it will give your fundraising a kickstart.
    4. Share via WhatsApp, email and social media – every share of your fundraising page will increase your donations.
    5. Add a photo to your page and set a fundraising target – this could boost your donations by an average 30%!
    6. Find out how to create a QR code, using JustGiving’s guide. You can add your QR to promotional posters, presentations and your email signature.
    7. Share updates – let people know how your challenge is going, how their donation will help families facing dementia, and how much you appreciate their support.
    8. Those that aren’t able to attend your event can still show their support by donating to your page.
    9. Don’t stop when your fundraiser ends – an average 20% of donations come in after the fundraising event has ended, so keep sharing and make sure you thank your supporters.
    10. Fundraising as a team? JustGiving have a step-by-step guide to setting up a team fundraising page, allowing you to link individual fundraising pages so they all contribute to your team total

    Set up your JustGiving page

Fundraising through JustGiving is safe and secure, and the money you raise will come directly to Dementia UK so you don’t have to worry about sending in your donations.

    Set up your page

Did you know you can raise even more through JustGiving by asking your supporters to tick the Gift Aid box (if they are eligible)? This means we get an extra 25p for every £1 they donate – at no extra cost to them!

    The impact of your fundraising

Every penny donated to your fundraiser will make a huge difference to families facing dementia. Each donation, no matter how big or small, will help you reach your target. See the impact that your fundraising target could make:
    • £ 250

could fund a new Admiral Nurse

to run a full day of face-to-face appointments for families affected by young onset dementia (where symptoms develop under the age of 65).

    • £ 557

could pay for two Admiral Nurses

to answer calls on our Helpline on a Sunday, when other dementia services are closed.

    • £ 1 ,250

could fund a new Admiral Nurse

for a whole week to support a community where people are struggling to access local dementia services.
