Every year, hundreds of runners and cyclists take part in challenge events to help us grow the number of dementia specialist Admiral Nurses. We want to give them a huge congratulations and appreciation at the end of their event, and we need volunteers to help us.
We need volunteers work on weekends between 2.5 – 5 hours, with locations in London, Brighton, Newcastle, Birmingham and Cardiff.
Dementia UK have a dedicated events team that manage our third-party events. We recruit and support those who have chosen to take on a physical challenge to support Dementia UK.
LucyI loved volunteering at post-race, it’s so much fun meeting the supporters and congratulating them for their achievements. There is always such a buzz and the excitement from everyone is infectious.
You’ll be asked to join Dementia UK staff and volunteers at our post-race location to congratulate our amazing runners and cyclists.
- You’ll help take photos with racers holding their well-deserved medal.
- If a massage therapist is present, you’ll help us keep track of who’s next in line as well as handing out refreshments.
- You’ll meet participants’ family members and friends who have come to congratulate their loved ones. They may want to talk about their experiences with dementia and explain why their loved one has taken on their challenge for Dementia UK
- You’ll talk about Dementia UK and our Admiral Nurse services to friends, families, and anyone who would like to know more. We will offer guidance on this.
No experience necessary, we ask that you are enthusiastic and enjoy meeting and talking to new people. Access to a car or good transport links is useful and you must be able to stand for long periods of time.
