Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia.
All too often, families struggle to know where to turn and are left feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and alone. We want every family affected by dementia to have the support of a specialist nurse, known as an Admiral Nurse – but right now, we cannot reach everyone who needs us.
By making a gift to Dementia UK, you will help us offer life-changing support to even more people affected by dementia.
There is no cure for dementia, but a major gift will help us ensure that more of the 944,000 people living with dementia in the UK, and their families and friends, have access to the best support possible.
Our specialist dementia nurses are a lifeline to those struggling to cope. Major gifts enable us to develop our nursing services so we can reach as many people as possible – on our Helpline, in face-to-face and virtual clinics, and in local communities, hospitals and care homes.
Mark Stroyan, Dementia UK trustee and donorIn Dementia UK I saw an enterprise with purpose and meaning and also one that had a clear vision, a well-articulated strategy and, critically, the people to deliver on that strategy. The culture of the organisation and the talent within it is outstanding, and it gave me real confidence that anything I might do to help, or donations that I might source, would be put to work in a professional, compassionate and effective way.
We do not receive any Government funding, so we rely on the generosity of our supporters. At Dementia UK, we consider donations of £5,000 or more to be a major gift. If you are able to make a donation of this size, you will play a significant part in how we support families, now and in the future.
All of our major supporters will receive:
Colin, who cared for his wife GladysWithout the practical and emotional support of our specialist dementia nurse, Gladys’s final months, days and hours would have been heartbreakingly different. She certainly wouldn’t have passed away surrounded by her family – the people she loved most in the world.
We understand the need for flexibility in how you might choose to donate, and would be happy to discuss which way of giving would meet your needs most effectively. You might also like to find out about tax-efficient giving so please contact us to discuss further.
The 500 Club is our giving club for individuals dedicated to making sure that no one has to face dementia alone. By joining the 500 Club you will be investing in the next generation of Admiral Nurses, by directly helping us to fund new nurses, helping us to achieve our goal of 500 nurses by 2025.
If you would like to discuss making a donation, please contact Alice or Phoebe from our Philanthropy Team to find out how you could make a difference to people living with dementia. Together, we can ensure that no one has to face dementia alone.
