Everyone Active’s partnership with Dementia UK

We are thrilled to announce the award-winning sports and leisure operator Everyone Active is supporting us with a year-long partnership to raise awareness of dementia and vital funds to support families living with the condition.

Award-winning sports and leisure operator Everyone Active is supporting Dementia UK, to deliver a year-long partnership to raise awareness of dementia and vital funds to support families living with the condition.

Everyone Active are hoping to raise £50,000 which could cover essential operations, including the basic costs of 17,500 people contacting our Dementia Helpline so that they can benefit from life-changing advice and support.

The partnership, which officially launched today, builds on Everyone Active’s support for those affected by dementia. Earlier this year, the leisure operator provided free memberships to people affected by the condition with the support of Watford Borough Council.

The positive impact of being active

This new partnership will help to raise awareness of the positive impact that being active can have on individuals and families affected by dementia, with research showing that physical activity may improve cognition and mental health, and could also help to reduce the risk of developing the condition.

Everyone Active’s Group Development Director, Ben Beevers, said:

This new partnership continues our close association supporting people with dementia, and we’re delighted to begin our partnership with Dementia UK. We have the opportunity to really drive awareness of the condition and also educate people on the role that physical activity can play to help people living with dementia. With over 200 leisure and cultural facilities across the UK, we will work closely with our colleagues and customers to raise funds to support the vital work of the charity and help families and carers who dedicate a phenomenal amount to support those close to them.

Paul Edwards, Director of Clinical Services at Dementia UK, said:

We’re pleased to partner up with Everyone Active and are grateful for their support. Physical exercise is important for everyone and could help to reduce the risk of dementia. Our Admiral Nurses on the Helpline listen to families with dementia and help them take back control. Through this partnership with Everyone Active and the funds raised, thousands of families can continue to access tailored and specialist support. We will also be exploring how our Admiral Nurses can provide practical advice to help make Everyone Active’s facilities more accessible for families affected by dementia. Together we can drive awareness of the positive impact that being active can have on people living with dementia and their carers.
